The printing process is a widely varied one that can involve many choices and options to achieve the desired product at the cheapest price. Artwork Requirements
The first stage in this process is to receive the artwork from the customer. Ideally Keltec would prefer first generation artwork. This means a copy of the artwork in its original format and where possible in a vector format. Preferred formats include:
- Adobe Illustrator Files (.ai or .eps files)
- Corel Draw Files (.cdr files)
Artwork created on an apple-mac computer should be converted for use on a PC or saved as a tiff file.
In providing these files the design team at Keltec can reproduce any artwork efficiently ready to transfer into the appropriate printing format. If artwork cannot be provided in any of the above formats Keltec may have to charge the customer a nominal fee to recreate the artwork in the appropriate format. Customers would be informed of this before production of the order commenced.
It is also advisable for customers to provide generic artwork files. These illustrate the artwork required in its original format without the risk of any misunderstanding between the two parties. For example artwork sent via email can often change slightly due to one party not having the appropriate letter font. These generic files include:
- Tiff files (.tiff)
- Jpeg Files (.jpeg)
- Adobe Reader Files (pdf) Adobe 6 or earlier*
Keltec require 300dpi high resolution files from customers. For one colour designs created in Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word or Powerpoint a jpeg alone is suitable, but this must be a minimum resolution of 150dpi. Artwork in these files should be black so that Keltec can scan the image into the computer. Printing can then be undertaken in the customers choice of colour.
